Letters From Snook

During his two and half years serving in the First Special Service Force and 474th Infantry Division, Frank “Snook” Barber wrote over 350 letters home to his wife, Geneva, or “Gee”. Gee saved them all and most of those written from the front have survived in a collection that I, his eldest granddaughter, ultimately inherited, along with several photographs, medals, a couple of uniforms and other artifacts I intend to share here. Though my area of historical expertise is Archaic Greece, I hope to apply the same high standards to this blog that I would my own regular research, making it useful to any who are focusing on this rich area of military history.
