Dearest Gee.

Got your nice April 27 v-mail today and it wasn’t even photographed. There was one smudge on it so I suppose they figured it wasn’t fit to photograph.

Yes, Chick had a birthday but I didn’t know anything about it. The last time I saw him he mentioned something about his birthday and I found out when it was. There wasn’t much I could’ve done about it anyway.

No, I didn’t know Dale’s wife. I wrote to you the other day about it.

Douglass and I are having a night. He came over to my dugout awhile ago and is giving the censor a bad time too. Close was over this afternoon for awhile. He misses his little Rockford too.

At present we are sweating out that beer ration again. They kinda shorted us a little this time as they are short on malt at present. Next time we should receive the quart again. They also have some cigars for sale but that’s the least of my worries.

Got a nice letter from Jack and Hilah. He wrote on one side and she wrote a note on the back. He has decided he doesn’t know whether he’s well off out of the army, or not. I can tell him dang quick that he is. Imagine he does have his troubles tho with two kids. Pretty nice trouble. So Francy has decided we’ve got to have one like Linda. Pretty big order but sure willing to give it a whirl.

Been a bad day today. Rained a little and turned kinda chilly. Last night my platoon was on guard. I got about three hours rest as it was too cold to sleep. Just took a blanket with me and thought it would be enough but it sure wasn’t.

About time for the beer so, in the meantime, I sure love you, honey, and miss you like the devil. Be good.

So long now.
