Dearest Gee.

Honey, it seems like I have a hard time finding time to write but I sure have been busy. I am anxious to send off the souvenirs to you as soon as I can. Managed to get five small cameos that could be made into a bracelet, or use four for a bracelet and one for a ring. Also bought three cameos in settings. Two of them are really nice work. One of them is of a baby and if you will note they even have the toes on them. The five little ones set me back fifteen bucks. Can’t figure for the life of me why such a stiff price. Wish you would give Mom one if you will. Maybe I’ll be able to get more. Had a wonderful time in Rome but I don’t think my feet will ever be the same. I bought a few more things that I will send too. Would like to have bought more but I’m broke now. Will have to wait till payday. I’ve spent over a hundred bucks this month but it’s the first chance a guy has had to spend any and things are really high. The food is really rugged. I think I can eat most anything now. Half the time I was afraid to ask what I was eating. Found some very good wine. Would like to have about fifty gallons of that in the cellar at home. I never cared for wine but that was really good. I’m afraid you’ll have to get out the English book when I get home so I can study it. Hope those boys on the second front keep up the good work. Sure love you and miss you.

So long now.

Snook

Snook’s youngest granddaughter wore the mentioned cameo bracelet as her “something old” for her wedding.

Based on my personal experience in Rome, I’m betting Snook is raving about their Chianti.
