Dearest Gee.

Didn’t get any mail today or yesterday (so far today anyway). It sure makes it tough to write a letter.

Douglass brought me my camera so now I can take the other four pictures if it stops this liquid sunshine long enough. I still haven’t received the films you sent. Hope they don’t get here too late.

I guess we get our combat infantry badge next month from what they tell us. Should get eighty or ninety bucks I don’t know which. Does Chick have his?

We listen to the field radio whenever we get a chance. The news sounds a little better every day. For the life of me, I don’t see why Hitler don’t throw in the towel. He’s just sacrificing needlessly the lives of a bunch of people. I’ll bet at least half of the German people feel the same way. I’ve got all my fingernails chewed off and working on my toenails now. If it don’t end pretty soon I’ll have to start cutting paper dolls.

One thing about this life you eat more or less when and what you want as far as you’re able. I’ve fried myself so many potatoes that I can’t look one in the face now. Some of our rations have cans of bacon in them so we save the grease. No eggs tho. I’m not putting on any weight but I don’t think I’m losing much either.

I sure am anxious to see you again. We’ll make it another Arkansas if I can hold out. I could sweat the rest out right now if the war would just end.

Guess I’ve rambled on long enough now. Did the Chicago Stock Market raise any after you left? Sure love you and miss you.

So long now.
