Dearest Gee.

Happy New Year, and all that sort of stuff. This is your first letter of the new year anyway.

Suppose you noticed the new address on the envelope. I’ll include it at the end of this letter too. Might as well tell the gang about it because I don’t think I’ll have time to write them. I’m somewhere in northern France now and safe and sound at present. I’ve managed to pick up a doozy of a cold but don’t let that worry you any.

Haven’t received any letters from anyone yet. I suppose you want letters any worse than I do right now.

What kind of a New Years did you have? Did you go to your usual midnight show, or have a bridge session?

We didn’t have a good New Years but Doug and I sure gave Christmas a hell of a going over in Nice. We still remained good little boys tho, you needn’t worry about that. On the way home, Doug fell flat on his puss and skinned it all up. I’ve got a couple snaps of him the next day. Going to use them for blackmail on him. We had Morris with us and he stayed sober (thank the Lord) so he maneuvered us home okay. I sure missed you kid. It seems to be worse this particular Christmas time than the last although I can’t see why it should.

I kept your Dec 1, 2, 3, and 4th letters but I believe I answered those. Sure hope you haven’t injured your arm too badly. How are you getting along now. Never have found those two fellows you wanted me to look up. Haven’t had the chance yet.

I got a nice card from Es and Harry too don’t know whether I told you or now. I never have received your box yet. Didn’t you tell me you sent my mittens too? I’ve never got those either. The next package you send you might slip me a couple packages of smoking tobacco, if you can get it. Is it short too? I know there is no use asking for cigarettes but you never have said about tobacco. We got our P.X. rations today. Got five bottles of beer! Want a glass of beer, kid?

The new address is;
T/4 Frank M. Barber 36337459
Service Co. 474 Infantry Regt. (Separate)
APO#4994 c/o P.M. N.Y.C., N.Y.

Sure do love you, honey, and miss you terrible. Be good. Hope I see you soon.

So long now.
