Dearest Gee.

Honey, I got your swell lil’ ol’ number of July 24 (2nd edition) today. Was mighty sweet. Also got one from my momma.

I don’t have a hell of a lot to talk about today. Nothing new seems to happen. I’m sending you another edition of the Spearhead I case you’re interested. It has some fairly interesting stuff in it sometimes. Are you getting the Yank magazine regularly? I ordered that when I as at Le Havre.

Was sure glad Claude and Mildred took you out for the anniversary. Kinda thought they would but it’s nice to know they really did. And you rated a corsage too! I can see where the rest of our anniversaries are going to cost me. Can you buy them things at the dimery? Wonder if they ever cut the weeds out at our school house?? Was sorry you didn’t get a letter from me that day. As I told you, I didn’t get to write that day but did the next. I’ve been writing most every day here lately.

They are having a play in town this week. Guess I’ll take that in. It’s put on by our guys and is called “Get Hep”. I don’t know what it’s all about but will tell you about it later.

Getting close to chow time again. We’re having chicken tonight. Had mutton this noon (ugh) and many beans. The beans weren’t so bad. How are you doing, honey? Are you eating regular?

The temperature here is as near ideal as anywhere I’ve been yet. The evenings are cool enough so you can sleep good and the daytime just nice and warm. This would be good anniversary weather.

There was a fire on the other side of the river yesterday in the mountains. Could see it “jis as pain.” Guess the Norskys had to go put it out.

I see where they didn’t lower the point score any. I hope my 86 gets me home sometime soon. I sure love you and miss you like hell, honey.

So long now.
